While I've covered a lot of lenses for Fujifilm cameras on this site, this is my first guide to the best GFX lenses available for photographers that have or are considering buying a large format Fuji body. Fujinon GF23mmF4 R LM WR
What I Liked:
- Stunning image quality with sharpness, clarity, and minimal distortion
- Linear focusing motor delivers quick and quiet autofocusing
- Extensive weather sealing
What I Didn't Like:
- Aperture ring doesn't have de-clicking
- Relatively expensive
The Fujinon GF23mmF4 R LM WR has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 18mm, making it an ideal choice for landscape, real estate, and architectural photography. It is the widest lens available for Fuji G-Mount large format cameras and delivers exceptional quality.
Even though it is extremely wide, the GF23mmF4 R LM WR keeps sharpness from edge-to-edge, while its Nano GI coating on the front element keeps ghosting and flare at bay. Worried about distortion? You shouldn't be. The lens has little-to-no distortion which means you can get great results straight out of the camera without spending time adjusting your lines in post-production.
The lens itself consists of 15 elements in 12 groups, which includes two aspherical lenses, a Super ED lens and three ED lenses. The GF23mmF4 R LM WR features weather-resistant seals in nine areas, to keep you protected in inclement weather. Fuji touts that it protects against dust, moisture, and temperatures as low as -10°C (14°F).
In terms of autofocus, the LM in the model name denotes that it has Fuji's linear motor, giving you quick and quiet focusing.
If you need the widest field of view possible and enjoy using prime lenses, the GF23mmF4 R LM WR is my top recommendation.
Fujinon GF30mmF3.5 R WR
What I Liked:
- Relatively compact and lightweight for the G-mount lineup
- Sharp and clear images
- Extensive weather sealing
What I Didn't Like:
- Lacks character
- Not completely silent, which isn't great for video work
The Fujinon GF30mmF3.5 R WR has a 35mm equivalent focal length of about 24mm, which is a standard wide angle field of view. While it isn’t the widest lens available for Fuji G-Mount large format cameras, most photographers will find it is plenty wide to capture scenes in their entirety.
As with the GF23mmF4 R LM WR, the GF30mmF3.5 R WR keeps sharpness and contrast from edge-to-edge and also features weather-resistant seals, to keep you protected in inclement weather.
While this lens lacks a linear motor like others in the G-mount collection, you still you get quick and quiet auto-focusing to capture your images.
If you don’t need a super wide field of view and want a relatively lightweight prime lens, the GF30mmF3.5 R WR is a fantastic piece of glass.
Fujinon GF45mmF2.8 R WR
What I Liked:
- Great sharpness, minimal distortion, and great color rendering
- Weather sealing for outdoor shoots
- Relatively compact and lightweight
What I Didn't Like:
- Lacks optical image stabilization
- Expensive, like all G-mount lenses
The Fujinon GF45mmF2.8 R WR has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 36mm, which is a standard field of view for street photography or ideal for everyday shooting.
While there are other lenses on this list with lower f-stops, the f/2.8 on this lens delivers a shallow depth of field to help separate your subject from the background or get creative with selective focus.
As with all the options on this list of the best GFX lenses, it features weather resistant seals so you needn't worry about where you're using it. Its also the lightest lens I've listed so far, coming in at 490g.
If you love shooting 35mm on full frame cameras, the GF45mmF2.8 R WR will probably never leave your camera's body.
Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 R LM WR
What I Liked:
- Compact and lightweight for travel and street photography
- Linear motor for quick and quiet autofocusing
- Great flare control for bright conditions
What I Didn't Like:
- Minimum focusing distance isn't very close (1.8 feet)
- Lacks optical image stabilization
The Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 R LM WR is a weather-resistant, compact, and lightweight lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 40mm. This is only a 4mm difference in focal length compared to the FUJINON GF45mmF2.8 R WR above. There are some key differences between the two though.
For one, the 50mm lens is essentially a pancake lens. It's only 48mm long and weighs a mere 335g. It also has doesn't have quite the maximum aperture of the GF45mmF2.8, but since GFX camera sensors are large format, you'll still find the depth of field quite shallow on both lenses.
The final notable difference between the two lenses is that the GF50mmF3.5 has a linear motor for autofocusing. This keeps the lens portable, while still maintain the silent and quick autofocus you expect from Fujifilm.
If you want the smallest and lightest setup possible when taking photos, I highly recommend checking out the FUJINON GF50mmF3.5 R LM WR.
Fujinon GF63mmF2.8 R WR
What I Liked:
- Relatively compact and lightweight
- Overall, the lens is pretty sharp
- Weather-resistant design for outdoor shoots
What I Didn't Like:
- Edge sharpness isn't great
- Lacks optical image stabilization
The Fujinon GF63mmF2.8 R WR has a 35mm equivalent to a 50mm lens, which is claimed to be the closest to the human eye. I personally love the 50mm focal length since it allows you to capture a natural view of the world. The f/2.8 maximum aperture helps in obtaining a three-dimensional look with separation between subject and the background.
Fuji calls this lens "The Original" as it helps reignite that feeling you get when you pick up a camera for the first time. Photographers love this lens for its sharpness, beautiful color-rendering, and portability. However, that can also be said by pretty much every lens on this list.
Ultimately, I think the decision between this lens and the Fujinon GF45mmF2.8 R LM WR really comes down to personal preference. If you're new to photography, it may be difficult to figure out which to buy. If you're an experienced photographer with a history of shooting on a 35mm or 50mm equivalent lens, you'll know almost immediately which suits you best. The Fujinon GF50mmF3.5 R LM WR offers something between the two, so you've got a few options to consider.
Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 R WR
What I Liked:
- Excellent sharpness, contrast and detail
- Solid build quality with weather sealing
- Low distortion
What I Didn't Like:
- Slower autofocus compared to other Fujifilm lenses
- Controlling chromatic aberration can be challenging in some situations
The Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 R WR is the world’s brightest autofocus interchangeable lens for medium or large format mirrorless digital cameras, thanks to its maximum aperture of f/1.7. When you put this on a Fujifilm GFX camera, you'll be blown away by the shallow depth of field and low-light possibilities.
At 80mm, this is equivalent to 63mm on a 35mm setup. This lens is ideal for portrait photography, delivering incredible results in terms of sharpness, even wide open. As with all GFX lenses, it is weather-resistant, so you can rest assured when shooting outdoor events such as weddings or music festivals.
If you frequently shoot in low-light situations or want to maximize soft backgrounds with beautiful bokeh, the Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 R WR is the lens for you.
Fujinon GF110mmF2 R LM WR
What I Liked:
- Bright maximum aperture
- Sharp, vibrant photos with minimal distortion
- Weather resistance for outdoor photography
What I Didn't Like:
- No optical image stabilization
- Heavy lens weighing 1,010g
On the GFX large format sensor, the Fujinon GF110mmF2 R LM WR gives a mid-telephoto range equivalent to 87mm on a 35mm format. While the maximum aperture on the Fujinon GF80mmF1.7 R WR is better, there are plenty of photographers that enjoy shooting portraits at around 85mm for more of a compression effect—myself included.
This weather-resistant lens delivers stunning color tones and textures with a linear motor for quick, quiet autofocusing. Reviews from photographers that own this lens include words like "favorite" and "magical". Its truly a worthy contender for your attention and consideration when shopping for the best GFX lenses.
If you prefer 85mm when shooting portraits on 35mm setups, then the Fujinon GF110mmF2 R LM WR is an absolute no-brainer for you to pick up.
Fujinon GF120mmF4 R LM OIS WR Macro
What I Liked:
- Sharp images with minimal distortion and vignette
- Optical image stabilization rated up to 5 stops
- Weather and dust resistance for outdoor macro photography
What I Didn't Like:
- Large and heavy, making it challenging for tripods or use with extension tubes
- Pricey
Macro photography is all about capturing a subject's details, and the Fujinon GF120mmF4 R LM OIS WR Macro lens from Fuji is the best macro GFX lens on the market. With a 95mm equivalent focal length and 45cm minimum focusing distance, you'll be able to capture stunning details in your fashion, food, or flower photography.
This is the first lens in the list that has optical image stabilization, hence the OIS in the model name. This means you'll have increased flexibility when shooting handheld without sacrificing higher f-stops or shutter speeds. Even though the maximum aperture is f/4, you'll still walk away with images filled with beautiful bokeh since you're often focusing very close to your subject.
If you shoot macro photography and have a GFX camera, the Fujinon GF120mmF4 R LM OIS WR Macro should be at the top of your lens shopping list.
Fujinon GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR
What I Liked:
- Fast and accurate autofocus
- High-quality construction with weather resistance
- Optical image stabilization rated up to 5 stops
What I Didn't Like:
- Large and pretty darn heavy
- Very expensive
The Fujinon GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR is the final prime GFX lens on the list, but shouldn't be ignored if you shoot sports or wildlife photography. The 250mm focal length has a 198mm equivalent on a 35mm sensor. Capture distant details with this telephoto lens on your Fuji GFX camera body. This is the highest focal length of any GFX lens, including the zoom options below.
Since you'll have to bump up your shutter speeds to freeze action at this focal length, you'll be pleased to find out that this lens includes optical image stabilization. This provides 5 stops of vibration reduction so you can capture tack-sharp images while shooting through it.
Combine that with weather sealing, a linear focusing motor, focus limiter, and focus memory functions and you'll walk away with amazing photographs no matter where you're shooting. Oh you want to get even closer to the action? This lens is compatible with the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter to achieve just that.
If you enjoy shooting sports or wildlife and don't need the flexibility of a telephoto zoom lens, the Fujinon GF250mmF4 R LM OIS WR may be the best option for you.
Fujinon GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR
What I Liked:
- Covers a versatile focal length range
- Great sharpness and clarity with minimal distortion and aberrations
- Weather sealing for using in various weather conditions
What I Didn't Like:
- No optical image stabilization
- Focal length range stops before telephoto
The Fujinon GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR is the first lens in this zoom lens section of the best GFX lenses available. It is a versatile lens with 35mm equivalent focal length range of 25-51mm. This is a great range for travel, landscape, street, and architectural photography.
The Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR below is very similar in terms of focal length, but this lens wins out when it comes to the linear motor for autofocusing and a better maximum aperture.
The maximum aperture of f/4 is constant throughout the entire focal length range, and still offers a shallow depth of field thanks to the GFX's large format sensor size. While this lens is missing optical image stabilization, it is wide enough that you shouldn't need to push the shutter speeds extremely high and the latest GFX camera models have in-body image stabilization.
If you want something versatile that gives you flexibility to quickly change focal lengths on the wide angle end of things, the Fujinon GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR is the best lens available in the GFX lineup.
Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR
What I Liked:
- Compact size and weight
- Versatile focal length range
- Sharp for its price point
What I Didn't Like:
- Slower aperture compared to many other G-mount lenses
- Lacks an aperture ring for easier manual control
The Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR lens is another versatile zoom lens that rivals the first zoom lens on this list of best GFX lenses. The 35mm equivalent focal length range of this lens is 28-55mm means you will sacrifice some degrees in terms of the field of view on the wide end when compared to the FUJINON GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR. However, this lens makes up for it with some other features.
Most notably, this lens is much cheaper and is very portable. It has a retractable design and only weighs 390g. You should have no issues fitting this in your travel bag if you intend to use this frequently in the field.
It also autofocuses extremely quick and uses the in-body image stabilization systems in the latest GFX cameras to make handheld shooting easy and accurate. If you plan to use this lens for video, the focus breathing is minimized, which is a nice touch.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a travel zoom lens or are looking to keep your photography bag as light as possible, you can't go wrong with the Fujinon GF35-70mmF4.5-5.6 WR.
Fujinon GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR
What I Liked:
- Fantastic image quality
- Weather sealing for shooting in the outdoors
- Versatile focal length range for landscapes to portraits
What I Didn't Like:
- Noticeable vignetting at the wide end
- Large and heavy lens

Fujinon GF100-200mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR
What I Liked:
- Great image quality
- Optical image stabilization comes in handy for the longer focal lengths
- Weather sealing for shooting in most weather conditions
What I Didn't Like:
- Max aperture of f/5.6 can be limiting
- Limited focal length range
The Fujinon GF100-200mmF5.6 R LM OIS WR lens offers a 35mm equivalent focal length range of 79-158mm, picking up where the FUJINON GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR left off. It is also compatible with the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter, so you can get all the way up to 221mm equivalent focal length. It has a constant maximum aperture of f/5.6 and is a great large format telephoto zoom lens.
It has the linear motor we've seen on quite a few lenses on this list, so you know you're going to get quiet, quick autofocusing. This is essential when in the telephoto range of lenses. It also has a focus limiter—a standard feature of many telephoto lenses.
Freezing action is a breeze with the optical image stabilization which combats 5 stops of vibration reduction. Combine that with weather sealing, and you can comfortably take this into the elements to grab images of nature at its finest.
